Chisholm has been named as one of two Victorian training providers to pilot a project to provide additional support to students who have selected to study a course listed under the State Government’s Free TAFE initiative.
The $500,000 project will fund extra resources for Chisholm and SuniTAFE via a partnership with the Adult Community and Further Education (ACFE) Board.
This project aims to strengthen Free TAFE students’ capacity to manage their learning and get the support they need to build their confidence to achieve a Free TAFE qualification and be job-ready.
Minister for Training and Skills and Higher Education, Gayle Tierney, and Member for Nepean Chris Brayne announced the funding during a recent visit to our Mornington Peninsula campus.
The ACFE Board will work with us and Learn Local partners to develop educational products and resources so that Free TAFE students have access to pre-accredited education support.
Minister Tierney said the funding would also support Learn Locals to offer additional modules for students enrolled in Free TAFE to build their literacy, numeracy, digital, and employability skills.
“There are so many front doors and different pathways into a TAFE qualification. This funding ensures that those who want to learn, get the support they need, to gain the skills they need,” Minister Tierney said.
The project to deliver these extra services to Free TAFE students will begin in 2020.
