Chisholm Institute has signed an extension to its education partnership for a further three years with Ministry of Education and Higher Education Qatar. The extension builds upon Chisholm’s transnational education experience, spanning over 15 years, with an international reputation as one of Australia’s pre-eminent TAFE Institutes. The partnership will continue to support the development of Qatar Technical School’s teaching staff, to ensure consistent high quality training and resources, and ensure students of QTS have the preparatory skills and knowledge to pursue further studies in their chosen fields.
Qatar Technical School for Boys under the auspice of Chisholm Institute, has delivered a range of Certificate II qualifications since 2018 including Engineering, Sampling and Measurement, Process Plant Operations and Public Safety. The recent agreement extends the partnership to include the inception of Qatar Technical School for Girls (QTSG). Students from QTSG will be able to initially undertake technical specialisation study areas of sampling and measurement and electrical engineering.
The agreement was signed virtually by Mr. Stephen Varty, Chisholm CEO and Board Director, in Melbourne and by Ms. Fawzia Al-Khater, the Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs of Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Qatar. The partnership has been extended by a further three years until 2024.
Qatar Technical School for Boys and Qatar Technical School for Girls will benefit from this partnership agreement by promoting technical education in terms of technical teacher accreditation, enhancing teacher delivery and assessments, ensuring training delivered to students is aligned to Australian Qualification Frameworks (AQF) requirements. The partnership also allows Qatar Technical School to plan for future expansion of its offerings to students to satisfy stakeholders and economic growth in the fulfilment of Qatar’s National Vision 2030.
“The Qatar Technical Schools’ performance and shared values provides great confidence that this will be an enduring partnership of mutual respect and learning that will continue to evolve and grow,” stated Mr Varty. “We are excited to extend our partnership with such a highly regarded and respected organisation in Qatar. Their dedication to continued delivery of Australian qualifications to support students and industry alike, is encouraging,” stated Mr Varty.
"Since technical education is characterised as a dynamic education that is ever-evolving, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in the State of Qatar hopes, through the partnership agreement with Chisholm Institute, to keep pace with education developments globally and provide a specialised cadre for the economic mobility that we need to pivot quickly to international economic changes. We plan to pay attention and develop technical education further in our country, with the aim of developing human resources, which constitute the most important source of this movement, in order to achieve a competitive advantage and success in the State of Qatar” stated Mrs Fawziya Al Khater, The Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs.
The agreement will form the basis for what promises to be a long lasting and fruitful relationship between the two educational institutions.
