Chisholm’s long-standing partnership with Monash Motorsport has stepped up a gear with Monash University students taking part in essential training to support their work in developing Formula-SAE racing cars.

Chisholm’s training has been developed specifically to meet the needs of the student’s Formula SAE program and is held at our newly refurbished Trades Centre at the Dandenong campus.

The exciting new program allows the motorsport participants to achieve competency in the safe use and operation of hand tools, power tools and machine tools in a mechanical workplace. It equips students with the skills and abilities to be competent members of the Motorsport team and gain valuable knowledge that can be applied to other areas of engineering, contributing to their diverse experience.

Associate Director of Education (Trades) Stuart Hoxley said the training provided by Chisholm’s engineering and automotive teams complements the experience gained through the F-SAE program.

“We’re proud of our long association with the Monash Motorsport team, and the latest program supports their interest and career path by providing them with the skills and knowledge in the handling and safety of equipment used to develop and race their vehicles,” Mr Hoxley said.

“The program is held on-site in our multi-million-dollar Trades’ Centre at Dandenong campus. This term, we’ve been pleased to welcome students back onto campus, including those like our Monash partners who need to be in a workshop and participate in practical hands-on learning.”

Chisholm General Manager Workforce Solutions Paul Konig says Chisholm has been able to progress the partnership with the motorsport team because of the ability to provide the latest training.

“Chisholm has an outstanding record in delivering solutions for workplaces or, in this case, students who are essentially participating in a face-paced, high-risk industry environment. We can provide classes at a time that suits their schedule and training that is tailored to their needs – which is safety in the motorsport industry. We have skilled educators with extensive industry experience across electrical, engineering, and work health and safety in a second-to-none environment in our South East region.

Monash Motorsport is a student-run team that competes in the largest engineering design competition in the world that sees students from universities around the world design, manufacture, test, and compete with formula-style race cars. Monash Motorsport has developed Australia's first competition-ready Formula Student driverless car with the team’s consistent success in FSAE Australasia and European Formula Student competitions.
