About the Chisholm Tax Clinic
Chisholm Tax Clinic provides free, independent and confidential tax information and business support.
The Chisholm Tax Clinic is a student-run service providing free education to help you comply with taxation requirements. The Chisholm tax clinic provides confidential and independent taxation support to residents in the south east of Melbourne and Mornington Peninsula region.
Assistance is available to eligible individuals and small businesses who are:
- unable to access tax advice and assistance in managing their tax affairs due to economic, social or personal factors.
- not represented by a tax professional.
Your initial appointment will be an interview of up to 45 minutes with a Chisholm student. After your first consult the student will review the information with a tax professional to determine if another meeting is required or alternative recommendations.

- Provide information and support for unrepresented or in-need taxpayers
- Assist in developing practical experience for students as the future of the tax profession
- Raise awareness and understanding of issues in the current tax system

Assistance is offered face-to-face, by phone or online. Appointments are essential.
Who we help
We offer help to eligible:
- Individuals
- small businesses.
We can help with information about
- Using myGov and ATO online tools
- Tax file number (TFN)
- Tax information – income and deductions, GST, pay as you go (PAYG) instalments, residency, capital gains tax (CGT), small business tax obligations
- Lodging tax returns
- Business Registrations – ABN and GST registration, cancellations
- Business activity statements (BAS)
- Tax debt – payment plans, penalty remission requests, hardship requests
- Information about an ATO decision

Chisholm Tax Clinic prioritises individuals and small businesses in serious financial hardship who have been referred from our community partner organisations and may not be able to access or afford a tax agent.

Once we have received your application form, we will assess your request and notify you of the outcome. We may contact you to discuss your application further with you.

Career-ready placements
The Chisholm Tax Clinic is an educational service and part of Chisholm’s Work Integrated Learning (WIL) approach to learning. Students are given the opportunity to develop their advocacy, communication, technical and professional skills, gain real-world experience and graduate with a solid understanding of the tax profession. Where you can find us
The Tax Clinic will operate from two primary locations:
- Dandenong (main office) Shop 1, 228 – 234 Lonsdale Street, Dandenong, Vic, 3175. Open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
- Frankston (Available from mid-July 2025)
Both locations offer accessibility to public transport, amenities, and support services. Chisholm’s National Tax Clinic will complement the Skills and Jobs Centre as it already provides career advice, job training, financial support, and welfare services. Outreach sites are planned for Cardinia, Casey, and Pakenham Learn Local.
