Children’s Book Illustration

This course is designed for beginners who are interested in learning the fundamentals of children's book illustration. Over 3 sessions students will learn:

- Understanding the industry requirements for children's books


- Suitable painting, drawing and digital media
- Types of illustrations

Planning and workflow for picture books


- Creating characters
- Creating a colour palette.

A small collection of illustrations suitable for a portfolio will be completed during the course.

  • What to bring
    All brushes, paints and paper will be provided.
    Personal brushes and paints can be brought to class. Digital media such as an iPad can be brought (the teacher can instruct for Procreate).
