Tonal Pastel Portraits

This course is designed for creative people interested in learning how to use pastels to create portraits. Over 2 sessions students will have the opportunity to explore the art of drawing tonally with dry pastels to create a portrait. The sessions will be guided by an experienced artist.

By the end of the course each student will:

• Understand how to draw tonally.
• Explore ways to apply soft pastel.
• Understand the composition of different pastels – softness and pigments.
• Understand how to choose pastel paper – using the 'tooth' of the paper.
• Develop a creative practice.
