Learn the fundamentals of working in a support role within an education setting
According to Jobs and Skills Australia, employment numbers for education aides, including support roles, is predicted to increase by around 18% over the next five years.
Education Support workers are also known as learning support officers or education assistants. They work with teachers, administrative staff, and other people in education to create a positive learning environment for primary and secondary school students.
The Certificate IV in School Based Education Support is a nationally recognised qualification. It helps build a strong foundation and knowledge for a role in a rewarding sector.
The program teaches you how to facilitate learning for all students, including those who are on the autism spectrum or have disabilities. You’ll learn to understand individual education plans and behaviour plans and how to support and implement them in a school environment.
On completion of this course, you'll have specialised skills and a solid understanding of how to support students who need help in learning. You'll have a broad knowledge of the Victorian curriculum. And you’ll have deepened literacy and numeracy skills in educational programs.
This course requires a minimum of 100 hours of practical work placement. Chisholm will organise student work placement within schools. If you already work in an education service, it may be used to achieve placement requirements. However, your placement cannot be at a service where you have family members as students or staff to avoid conflicts of interest.
