Apprenticeships or traineeships can be undertaken as School-based Apprenticeship or Traineeship (SBAT) or Head Start Apprenticeship or Traineeship (HSAT) programs, integrated into a student’s Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM).
School-based Apprenticeship or Traineeship (SBAT)
An SBAT is an apprenticeship or traineeship undertaken by a student enrolled in VCE or VCE VM, with at least one day per week timetabled to be spent on the job or in training during the normal school week. Some SBATs may be required to attend a block of training once every four to six weeks depending on the department’s timetable.
The Training Plan is developed by Chisholm, together with the employer, the apprentice or trainee, in consultation with the secondary school. SBATs can enrol into a variety of apprenticeships and traineeships at Chisholm. Find out more information on VET delivered to secondary students and SBATs.
Head Start Apprenticeship or Traineeship (HSAT)
Head Start is an organisation who can support SBATs to complete their apprenticeship or traineeship. They work alongside Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) and secondary schools to support students in their training journey.
A Head Start Apprentice or Trainee will be supported by a Head Start co-ordinator who will liaise with Chisholm. The Training Plan is developed together with the employer, the apprentice or trainee, in consultation with the secondary school.
