Keep Australians water-safe as a swim teacher

Royal Life Saving Australia found that drowning rates increase from age 10 to age 20, likely due to increases in risk-taking and a lack of swimming, water safety and lifesaving skills in youth and young adults.

Swimming is a popular pastime in Australia, and swim teachers are vital to our community and ensure water safety and swimming techniques are taught to people of all ages.

The Swimming and Water Safety Teacher Skill Set provides the skills to work as a swim teacher across a range of swimming and water safety contexts.

This short course will allow you to gain the skills required by the industry. It will be delivered over two days plus six hours of placement. You'll learn how to instruct and teach water familiarisation, buoyancy and mobility skills, as well as swimming and survival strokes, to a range of clients with varying abilities.
