Georgina Hubbard bubbles with passion and excitement when she shares stories about her Chisholm Institute of TAFE Higher Education College colleagues, her ideas, her challenges – but mostly, her students. She revels in helping students succeed, helping to shape their career choices and helping them find their true talents.
“We change people for the better,” said Georgina.
“We change their trajectory; we give them opportunities they never dreamed possible.”
The winner of the Educator of the Year award in the 2024 Chisholm Education Awards, Georgina has worked as a senior social worker, a community English Language teacher and trainer, and is now the (Interim) Course Coordinator for the Bachelor of Community Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) at Chisholm. This pathway program leads into the Graduate Certificate in Family Violence. She was a principal organiser of an Industry Advisory Committee for the Bachelor of Mental Health & Alcohol and Other Drugs.
Her background experience helps her understand the needs of Chisholm’s diverse students. Her active listening skills mean she can identify barriers to learning and work to create solutions.
A member of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and the Australian Community Workers Association (ACWA), Georgina regularly participates in professional development opportunities, sharing learnings and resources across the teams.
She has represented Chisholm at many community development conferences, symposiums and workshops and was a key organiser of the 2023 Chisholm International Women’s Day event, bringing together organisations in the mental health and AOD sector.
