  Physical:
  The course requires participants to meet certain physical demands. While the course itself primarily involves theoretical learning and assessments, participants may be expected to conduct workplace inspections, assessments, and audits, which can involve standing for extended periods, walking across various terrains, and climbing stairs or ladders. Additionally, participants may need to handle and operate safety equipment.
  Therefore, a reasonable level of physical fitness is beneficial to successfully perform these tasks and ensure effective learning and application of WHS principles.
  
  Cognitive/Emotional:
  Participants in the course need to possess strong cognitive abilities, including critical thinking, problem-solving, and the capacity to understand and apply complex regulations and procedures. The course also demands a high level of attention to detail and the ability to conduct thorough risk assessments and develop comprehensive safety plans. Emotionally, participants should be prepared to handle stressful situations, such as identifying and responding to workplace hazards or incidents. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential for interacting with diverse teams and promoting a culture of safety within the organization.
  Experience:
  While there are no formal prerequisites for enrolling in the course, having prior experience in a related field can be highly advantageous. Participants with a background in workplace safety, human resources, management, or other relevant areas will find the course content more relatable and easier to apply in real-world scenarios. Experience in industries where confined spaces are common, such as construction, manufacturing, utilities, or mining, can be advantageous. Even if you haven't worked directly in confined spaces, familiarity with these environments can help you understand the challenges and safety requirements.
  
  Industry:
  This includes construction, manufacturing, healthcare, mining, and transportation, among others. Professionals in these industries who are
  responsible for managing or overseeing safety protocols, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
  will benefit greatly from this qualification. The course equips participants with the skills and knowledge to enhance workplace safety, protect
  employees, and contribute to the overall well-being of their organization.

  Language, literacy and numeracy

  You are required to complete a language, literacy and numeracy skills test before course commencement. This will determine course suitability and if you may need additional support.
  
  We use an approved online skills review tool to determine your language, literacy and numeracy skills within the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF).

• Practical placement

  There are no practical placement requirements for this course.

• Simulated work environment

  You'll be learning in a simulated work environment. Facilities and equipment that will be used include:
  • Confined space training simulator
  • Harness
  • Winch
  • Gas Detector
  • Breathing apparatus (self-contained and airline)
  • Signage and barriers
  • Personal protective equipment, including hard hats, safety boots, applicable clothing
  • Mechanical ventilator
  • Hand tools/keys
  
  Proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and breathing apparatus are essential requirements for confined space entry to ensure the safety and health of workers. PPE must include items such as helmets, gloves, protective clothing, and safety boots to protect against physical hazards.
  
  Additionally, eye and ear protection may be necessary depending on the specific risks present in the confined space.
