Gray Puksand as the Principal Design Consultant, has worked with Chisholm and the Department of Education to establish a concept that reflects the Tech School design guidelines and is aligned with the vision developed resulting from collaboration with the community, partnering schools and local industry.
The Tech School design allows the new facility to house flexible, fit for purpose studio spaces, with intentional and bespoke areas and equipment, and a maker space which will assist with delivering on community needs. The aesthetic for the building is to be reflective of a pavilion or exhibition centre, rather than that of a school.
The building has been designed to maximise natural daylight and ventilation opportunities through suitable ceiling heights and strategically placed window openings. A fully enclosed floor area of nearly 1000 square metres will cater for up to 95 secondary students.
For the outdoor areas, plants have been selected for their drought tolerant qualities and will contribute to the number of indigenous species already found at Chisholm’s Frankston campus.
