• Admission requirements

  You must be 17 years old or over before the course begins.

  Inherent requirements

  Physical:
  You must be able to stand unassisted and be able to hold your arms at shoulder height for long periods. You must be comfortable with working one-on-one and closely with people of all genders.
  
  Experience:
  You will need basic skills in Microsoft Word and Excel. You must be able to use the internet and email and have access to a computer and/or tablet device.
  
  Resources:
  You will need to provide your own models/clients for practice and assessment as required and will be advised accordingly by their teacher.
  
  Communication:
  Good communication is crucial, so you will need basic English skills to work effectively with clients, colleagues, and others.
  
  Attendance:
  It is expected that students will attend at least 80% of classes to obtain the required skills and knowledge.

  Language, literacy and numeracy

  You are required to complete a language, literacy and numeracy skills test before course commencement. This will determine course suitability and if you may need additional support.
  
  We use an approved online skills review tool to determine your language, literacy and numeracy skills within the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF).
  
  Below are the levels required for this course:

  • Language and literacy: 3
  • Numeracy: 3

• Practical placement

  There are no practical placement requirements for this course.

• Simulated work environment

  This is a practical qualification with a lot of hands-on assessment and mandatory hours that students must complete to pass all units so attendance is important to ensure successful completion of this qualification. All skills assessments will be required to be carried out on paying members of the public.
  
  Students are responsible for sourcing their own practice and assessment models.
  
  You will learn from industry teachers in state-of-the-art facilities. Our student Mysa Salon and Spa provides you with hands-on experience working with real clients under supervision.
  
  Mysa Salon and Spa is considered a real-work environment and the salon policies and procedures must be followed, including:
  
  • You must wear full Chisholm uniform including both the beauty top and professional black pants. No leggings, jeans or track pant
  • Hair must be tied up in a bun neatly with all stray hairs pinned down
  • Flat, black, rubber soled, closed toed shoes
  • No watches, rings or bracelets are to be worn
  • You will need to remove all metal piercings when operating electrical equipment due to safety
  • Nails must be kept short and manicured. Nails need to be less than 1mm long and should not be seen from the underside of the finger.
  • Personal hygiene including regular washing of uniforms.
