Create a sustainable career as a registered plumber

Plumbing is an in-demand career providing essential services that are always needed. As a plumber, you have job security and opportunities in various specialised fields within the sector.

A plumbing apprenticeship provides hands-on, industry-specific training. It also allows you to earn while you learn, preparing you for a successful and well-paid career.

There are many fields of plumbing you can specialise in, such as residential plumbing, commercial plumbing and industrial plumbing. You could work in service and repair, pipefitting, gas fitting, HVAC systems, water supply systems, sanitary plumbing, and sprinkler and fire suppression systems.

After successful completion of the Certificate III in Plumbing apprenticeship, the next step to become a licensed plumber is the Certificate IV in Plumbing. Then, you can apply for and pass the Victorian Building Authority (VBA) licensing exam. As a licensed plumber, you can then start your own business.

As an apprentice, you'll work full-time with your employer. You'll also learn in our state-of-the-art plumbing trade workshops four days a month.

You'll get hands-on experience working in plumbing sandpits and multi-trade workshops. You'll also gain practical skills in specialised training facilities for roof plumbing, gas fitting, air conditioning, roofing, and HVAC systems.
