Trades Centre Upgrade - Dandenong Campus

The Victorian Government has committed significant funding to support the delivery of the long-awaited infrastructure project, the Dandenong Trades Centre. Funding for the project was part of the TAFE Asset Maintenance Fund, which will deliver more than 30 projects across the State.

The refurbishment of several trades’ buildings at the Dandenong campus has enabled the consolidation of trade delivery to create the Dandenong Trade Centre. Chisholm Director and Chief Executive Officer, Steve Varty says the redesign and refurbishment will also align the training at Dandenong campus with the newly developed Frankston Trades Building, which was officially opened in 2020.

“We are one of the largest providers of Apprenticeship Training in Victoria, and the establishment of the Dandenong Trade Centre will enable us to continue our best practice approach to deliver relevant, industry-simulated training that aligns to industry needs and expectations”. “At Chisholm, our aim is to deliver quality, practical education to ensure our students are job ready when they graduate. These new industry-aligned facilities will help inspire student success and enhance the learning and support experience of our students now and into the future,” said Mr Varty.

“As Chisholm is conveniently located in Melbourne’s south-east, the manufacturing heartland and key residential growth corridor of Victoria, we hope these new contemporary learning spaces will attract and motivate aspiring tradies to chase their calling at Chisholm.”

Chisholm Institute has seen a 10 per cent rise in trade students over the past three years, with plumbing and engineering among the most popular courses. The number of female trade students has risen by 7 per cent year on year.

Construction of these industry-aligned facilities commenced in February 2021 and were completed in November 2021.
