Get skills in metal fabrication as an apprentice welder
According to Weld Australia, we need 70,000 more welders by 2030 to help power the renewable energy shift. This demand for new workers creates opportunities for jobs in the sector.
The Certificate III in Engineering (Fabrication) is an apprenticeship course that gives you the opportunity to earn while you learn. It gives hands-on industry-specific welding training. Once you've successfully completed the course, you'll be qualified to work as a welder, sheet metal tradesperson, structural steel tradesperson or technical salesperson.
As an apprentice, you'll work with your employer four days a week. One day a week, you'll come onto campus and learn from industry-experienced teachers using our state-of-the-art engineering facilities.
You'll learn about mechanical and thermal cutting, marking out, welding principles, fabrication, forming and shaping techniques and workplace safety.
Our courses connect you with industry leaders such as SEMMA and Weld Australia. We drive student excellence by being involved in industry competitions such as WorldSkills and industry awards like Master Builders Awards, HIA, EWIT, and Weld Australia Awards. We also offer support to apprentices with their wellbeing and mental health.
Once successfully completed, you can extend your skills by studying Chisholm's Certificate IV in Engineering Technology.
